It's almost impossible for people in academia-journalism to understand that businesses are hyper-focused on the customer. They can measure it with a huge range of data—and accountability is built in. Don't respect the customer, lose the customer.

There's also this New York media hate towards the west coast. It reminds me of the old coastal rap battles. If you're not from the NE than you're ultra-liberal from San Francisco working for an east coast media outlet. Regardless, the result is the same.
