I've been visiting San Francisco for 25 years. I've never seen it so bad. Tents across 40 city blocks. Gangs operating open-air drug markets. People smoking meth in plain sight. Things are falling apart.pic.twitter.com/iL8a7uXY1M

Now everything has gone mad. I saw a rope-line of Asian-American preschoolers weaving through a gauntlet of drug-dealing, tents, and meth smoke. A man threatened to punch me out. A social worker told me they are trying to get pregnant women off the streets and into rehab.
That is my favorite Italian restaurant in SF. So old school
big plate o' spaghetti glass wine watching the NorthBeach life walk by....sigh. The US Restaurant is SF.
I used to love US Restaurant. Chear, tasty eats, plus waitresses that never needed to write anything down.
U.S. is still around. It has moved a couple times since it was on the triangle at 431 Columbus @ Stockton. I imagine that’s where you used to go with your father. North Beach is struggling a bit, lots of empty storefronts. But, it has not entirely lost its soul, like much of SF.
