Public health professionals and officials who vary the norms they prescribe depending on whether they agree or disagree with the beliefs people are gathering to express, will destroy public trust in themselves and the entire public health establishment. A disaster in the making.
Not sure it's a disaster. Perhaps it signals the return to common sense and trust in one's on judgements. People survived quite well without many of the technico-bureaucrats that have attempted to guide modern life.
