How do you navigate being on the conservative side of things? Strong department support?
Wow, sorry to hear this, it's stressful and not conducive to the best research and teaching. My friend is a prof at a major public university and has managed to keep his (moderate conservative) political leanings totally secret. Worries tenure would be at risk. We need reform.

More like large-scale dismantling (fortunately imminent). The vast majority of college students neither want nor need what their courses purport to teach--they just want the "can do a white-collar job" credential. There are far better, cheaper, faster ways to provide those.
