      It's not mostly a user-facing problem. Facebook is an ad monopoly and that monopoly extends over publishers who compete for that ad $$$ but must also use Facebook to get to customers while Facebook takes their customer lists through surveillance.https://twitter.com/AriCohn/status/1258097068473757696 …

      Facebook and Google control speech largely by stealing the advertising revenue of nearly all publishers.       Are they "stealing" it or just providing a better, cheaper, more targeted service? When I think about running ads, Facebook makes it transparent, quick, iterative, and highly targeted. Why would I put out a banner ad in a local newspaper website?
