100% agree. What we call compassion is basically letting people die in the streets. Treatment is $$$ and we don't want to spend the money. I hope CA and US tackle this in coming years although we will be tight on funds.

One year of incarceration in SF jail costs ~90k. What if we spent that on treatment and housing instead?

Please be careful about conflating "mentally ill" and "psychotic." They're very different. And yes, many people absolutely need treatment with doctors. Mental healthcare needs to be treated as a right. We can't keep waiting until someone is in crisis.
