The bottom line is that "paternity" is an entirely "cultural" notion with little biological support. It relies on the idea of authority, i.e. love that elevates towards an ideal. Once that idea is gone, no sociological of psychological technique will bring back fatherhood.
George Gilder summarized it well: motherhood is biological, fatherhood is cultural.
