For all those concerned about waste of tax payer dollars you really need to examine the Seattle and King County budgets better. It’s been said already that the burlesque dance volunteered. Why don’t you freak out when ineffective heads of departments are paid 150k/year?

Why don’t you freak out when unnecessary consultants are held on retainer and make 50k-200k per a contact to produce nothing of substance?

Why don’t you freak out when the city pays out settlements for a pedophile mayor or cops that brutalize people?

Why don’t you freak out when big corporations receive huge tax breaks while making billions per a year?

Even if the artists were paid, most receive $50-500 for their performance, labor and cultural capital in a city most artists can’t afford to live in.

If you really care about the waste of tax payer dollars look at the budget and how many ineffective departments that are funded. That’s way more money than an artists makes doing a gig for the city or county.

But you don’t actually care about the waste of taxpayer dollars. This is not about tax dollars or governmental efficiency. You enjoy low hanging fruit sensationalized “news” and the opprotunity to attack people who do not have the platform or resources to protect themselves.

Nikkita, I agree that all of those are abuses of taxpayer money—the inept leadership, the corporate handouts, the pedophile mayor payoff, the restrictive housing regulations. You're articulating the fiscally conservative case against government waste with verve and clarity.
