I find it hard to believe there were taxpayers funded gun shows, but on the off chance it happened it probably made the municipality money. People want to buy guns, nobody wants to see a transgender stripper.

I have found nothing substantiating the 1 billion figure. The entire budget for HUD is about 42 billion. I did find one claim that spending in Seattle is rising to one hundred million. Which would still be $8300 per person.
