I lived in Santa Monica last winter. A middling part of a rich, rich city. What an absolute disgrace to step over people overdosing and hallucinating on your way to wherever and then not question the system that allows this, ignores it, even profits from it

Addiction is a huge part of it. But so are the new drugs, some of which are so incapacitating people aren’t even addicts yet. They’re just crippled by the stuff.
