I work at a nonprofit newspaper with a mission to provide an avenue toward self-sufficiency for anyone who sells it, but predominately homeless and low-income people. The "homeless industrial complex" charge is hilarious to me. Please - solve homelessness. I'll find another job.

.@rufodox understandably has issues with the PIT numbers, but takes a sharp turn into unsubstantiated talking points by conflating "chronically homeless" with "substance abusers."

.@moniguzman says that if she could wave a magic wand, she would put more money behind the PIT count. Get this woman a wand!

The PIT count has lots of issues. I find the stat annoying because people put *so much weight* on it, despite vastly superior data that comes out of the HMIS system.

.@jessynfarrell1 says that @rufodox 's language (bullies, profiteers, etc) isn't helpful.

.@rufodox says that the burden is on the people who are in charge and accuses @jessynfarrell1 of "tone policing." It is always interesting when people adopt social justice terms to rail against social justice.

Ooh I haven't heard this before - @jessynfarrell1 says she hasn't heard anything from the Port of Seattle, a community partner who has not been at the table.

She says that the Port of Seattle should play a role - they have taxing base and capacity. "The port interest is that they need to make that neighborhood work."
