I work at a nonprofit newspaper with a mission to provide an avenue toward self-sufficiency for anyone who sells it, but predominately homeless and low-income people. The "homeless industrial complex" charge is hilarious to me. Please - solve homelessness. I'll find another job.
92.5% of King County's homeless are not employed full-time (PIT), 50%+ have an opioid addiction (Purdue lawsuit), and the average heavy addict spends $1,800+/mo on heroin (federal govt). Sure, housing is too expensive, but even if rents went down 20%, wouldn't solve the problem.

Full-time is an important distinction. I doubt many people would consider selling Real Change full-time employment, and yet it's the most a lot of people can do. I would be surprised if work at the Millionair's Club Charity would rise to the level of "full time"

I realize everything on this website comes off as confrontational, but I'm genuinely curious to see these sources. Could you send me links? Here is fine, DM or ashleya@realchangenews.org

My pleasure: • King County Point in Time survey (employment stats) • https://www.krcomplexlit.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/King-County-Complaint-1-010518-1.pdf … (opioid addiction & homelessness) • https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/sites/default/files/ondcp/policy-and-research/wausid_results_report.pdf … (latest data is 2010)
