Chris- fascinating and appreciate the specific call-outs. I’d appreciate knowing if the author believes there are ANY entities doing good and just work? Many of us devote time and money to the cause and as inexperts never really know how to measure effectiveness.
Yes, many doing good work: Union Gospel Mission, Mary's Place, Millionair Club, St. Vincent de Paul, Agathos Village. All provide transformative services at a fraction of the cost of city/county programs.

Would be great to hear you distinguish why those orgs (or types of orgs). And distinguishing frontline service orgs from policy creators and funders. I think easier to call out good services orgs, than to define good policy orgs, but they should all be on the continuum.
