  5. I should mention, the other key change: getting married and having children. That will shatter your illusions and reorient your life pretty quickly. And the progressive ideology around families is truly destructive, nihilistic, and grotesque. Goodbye to all of that!

  6. Now, it's quite funny to see myself in print: the New York Times and Washington Post present me as some flame-throwing arch-conservative. In some ways, this is right; in others, it's absurd. Their ideology was my *starting point*—hopefully, if they do the work, they'll catch up.

  7. After this, I did a lot of reading—and, lo and behold, the conservative authors provided a better reflection of the reality I had seen as a documentary filmmaker. Sowell, Murray, Dalrymple, Gilder. Then I did the Claremont Lincoln fellowship and that sealed the deal.

  9. I was a leftist in college and participated in the big anti-Iraq War marches in DC. I've abandoned the politics of the Left, but on that point—opposition to the Iraq War—the left-wing activists were absolutely right.

  10. Critical Race Theory was the lockpick to our civilization. We have successfully partially arrested that mass line. It is now the means of making a Red Guard out of our children. It must be removed from schools.

  13. The expansion of government power used to deal with the very real threat of al Qaeda and other terror groups were, eventually, turned on other Americans. And here we are. My new piece on 9/11, 20 years later.

I didn't start a newsletter to make a living publishing my columns. I started it because I want to run the best opinion page in the country, full of scoops, reporting, and fresh insight. I think we delivered on that goal for back-to-school week (Thread!):

Reminder: Last year, at the height of the pandemic, the CDC was hosting critical race theory training programs, hosting Ibram Kendi for "antiracism" talks, and declaring that "racism is a public health crisis." The science is absorbed into politics—always has been.
