In a weird, lethal, alien mind-meld sex scene which is also hyper corny.

I've been enjoying it. Good design, cool inter-system political complexity. But also I like everything.

Yeah, also liked it. But my pseud approach to TV and film involves sort of just going with the logic of the text and seeing what it does.

Only recent things I've managed to kindle enough actual seriousness to properly hate were Stranger Things, Blade Runner 2049 and Ready Play One.

Why did you hate 'Stranger Things'? For the coming-of-age / kids dynamics layer, 'the 80s', or does it seem too humanistic and sentimental for you (even despite its faceless horror and Cthulhoid contagion)?

I liked the first series, but the ramped-up nostalgia of the second series overpowered the lurking trans-dimensional frisson so predictably that I gave up.

Fair enough. I loved it, best thing about last year after 'Twin Peaks' for me. Agreed about RP1 though, that was probably the worst film I ever saw theatrically.
