I'm late to the game but whatnisnmost amazing about Black Panther is how utterly mundane it is. I have difficulty seeing how the script did not begin life as Mission Impossible 17. Apart from casting, it has absolutely nothing to offer which is different or interesting.
The excitement generated by it speaks to an absence of imagination. Explain how this film would have been different, apart from the superficial, if a JJ Abrahams clone had directed it. Absolutely nothing about the actual filmmaking is different from every other Marvel film.
I will grant that the acting (not counting Golum) was better and the movie was fine as a whole. But it was a Hollywood blockbuster and was exactly like every other blockbuster.
