It may have been but we are 25 to 30 years on now (if you track it's origin from Houston's DJ Screw and slowed down remixes). We are witnessing the reterritorialization of the form. It is unlikely that you ever listened to it while it was a radical form.

This gets to my point earlier ( you probably misunderstood as you struggle with the reading comprehension), people who think of themselves as radicals confuse their aesthetic tastes for actual radicality. BEP (a shit group by any measure) ≠ rap bc rap=deterritoriality....
