I do not see how it is fair that people in some US states should get to pay less to the US federal government just because they pay more to their local state. The federal government still has to get funded regardless of how much states spend.

It's more that Cali's tax scheme was offset by deductions that rich people claimed via the federal government. Those ending means Cali's high taxes will start to hurt people who can live wherever they want.
