it didn't occur to me before this moment that they don't understand that humanity is responsible for everything...
And if there is an asymmetry between the power of destruction and creation? Or better, between our will to save and ability to know?

Not true. What if we have exhausted all that we are actually capable of? What if what is needed to fix our situation is beyond us atm?

Exhaustion is an ever present reality. Human eras are defined by their exhaustion in the face of an obstacle.

Something continues and we call it human because of an old habit and bias. The next stage will be harder to pull off, harder to call human.
