This is a remarkably bad take. I would bet dollars to donuts that Dreyfus has never read Badiou, especially in 2007.
Being and Event came out in 05 and considering Dreyfus was probably one of the leading Heidegger scholars then I'd bet he read fairly soon after publication.
My experience of American Heideggerians is that they are awful readers of anything that isn't Heidegger (it could argued that they are bad at that as well). I've been around them and seen their reaction to Badiou giving a keynote. They understand very little.
Yeah, as much as I enjoyed Dreyfus’s Heidegger course, he does seem totally blinkered and old school in it. IIRC the only person he has nice things to say about throughout is Rorty.
