You’re right Max. Unfortunately, the general public thinks in essentialist terms. They assume individuals are imbued with what is statistically true their group. That creates problems for people like Isabella who want to be treated as an individual.

Perhaps a part of the solution is greater statistical and scientific literacy among the general public. That would be greatly preferable to scientific denialism, which is pushed by a vocal contingent of misguided ideologues.

@Luca_Napoletano Yes, the concepts in this article are complicated, but the common finding that there is far more overlap than there is distinct differences is not beyond me. Nor is the understanding that when someone is unable to argue there case they resort to personal attacks -
