every illegal working for a law abiding employer has SS and income tax withheld and sent to DC. they can never access it, because it is under a fake number. It is large windfall to the US government and subsidizes US citizen retirement.

Helen, I don’t see how this is possible. I personally know illegal immigrants who walk out of work with cash, and their place of employment doesn’t even show them as employees. The only tax they pay is sales tax, and some even drive illegally.

Just telling you what I observed in dealing with thousands of undocumented people. Note, I said “law-abiding” employer, who would always report and collect SS and income tax.

Under Bush (pssst he was a Republican) your “catch and release” became the default process simply because we did not have anywhere to hold them. Maybe someone could site the “law” that Democrats passed?
