Trump didn't close the steel plants. He just made a decision to reopen them. That's what I mean by, hatred has blinded the left to any truth.

The US does not and cannot produce enough steel on their own. Hence, a little thing called trade. The only thing that’s happening now is Trump is hoping you look the other way while he’s got his hand in your pocket taking back that $18 he gave you in a tax break.

This of course, will raise the cost of building cars, bc ya know it’s now 25% more expensive to ship steel - but there’s no import tax on a fully built car. So there goes your American jobs. Back to Canada. Back to China. It’ll literally be cheaper to build everywhere, than USA.

It's a very small amount. Maybe a few $100 to the buyer. Not a big deal.

We have no idea of what the total cost could be. Our allies that Trump keeps alienating may hit us back in many ways we have yet to hear about. There is more than one side in a tariff war.

Great point. As farmers we could well be hurt in all this, but it still needs to be done. Fingers crossed we all come out better :-)

Industrial Hemp would be very good for USA farming and manufacturing. Hemp can also provide a lot of FUEL

Hmm, not sure about that in Oregon--we are primarily grass seed farmers, with some grains. Lots of exports. Time will tell tho. Off to bed--lovely chatting--hope to again sometime.

We definitely have a sick system. Big $$ donors, lobbyists, special interests--they are the ones running the show and are now freaking out big time by Trump's incipient move. We'll see how it plays out. A bit worrisome.
