You can still import steel from other countries.....

-
Let me explain to you how the Steel industry works. Companies make steel in the US and companies make steel in other nations. Companies also use steel in the US. This means if you tax it, you are taxing the companies who use it, and those who work for these companies.
-
A tax on Steel imports will help the companies in America who make the steel, at the expense of the companies in America who use the steel. It equates to a tax on all Americans except for the Steel industry in the US. In other words, this is a middle class tax increase!
-
Trade deals are there for a reason. They allow markets to find better deals and also sell their own products to other nations. If you start taxing Steel imports, it will result in difficult times for the America's export industry.
-
US steel makers are already profitable. In fact they are very profitable. So why tax imports of Steel, in order to give these companies larger profits at the expense of the American people?
-
This will result in much larger costs for every American company or individual that uses or purchases products made of steel. There are a lot of them!

It's funny that no one from Hillary's or Obama's administration was arrested or charged with any thing but Trump's administration has been nothing but abusers, rapist, Russian traitors and one by one going down love
-
Obama saturated the FBI and DOJ with his hacks. They will all be going down shortly. Can't wait to see Hillary and Obama in matching Orange Jumpsuits

Looks like it’s money well spent. Wonder why Rick Gates got such a sweet deal.

Take an economics course.
-
@murfholf, what in her statement was wrong? You just bluntly assume that nothing can be done more efficiently and economically in the USA, which is a failed dogma of two prior administrations. Actually you can add Clinton's to the list too. Don't you think you're a problem here? -
Trade’s been an issue for nations since the days of mercantilism. Tariffs can help in the short run but have ruined economies from trade wars. They cause inflation & decrease demand for taxed products. It‘ll ultimately decimate the US steel industry. Trump thinks out of his ass.
-
I tend to agree that tariffs are not best solution, although they're the means to protect country's vital sectors critical to economy and security. All countries do that. However, I'd rather focus on creating favorable business environment right here, i.e. lowering corp taxes, et
-
You realize then that tariffs only serve to isolate a nation. Steel mfg will only be able to sell their products inside our borders. They will be overpriced for world trade unless the government subsidies exports. Exactly what China does. That's called a trade war.
-
Apparently you and I took a far different Econ course than Trump!
