You do realize you just confirmed you said it? Whether you meant a handful of teachers or all you still said to arm teachers. Teachers want to educate. If they wanted to be cops or soldiers they would have chosen that path

Do teachers want to be huddled in fear not being able to do something when this inevitably happens again?
-
1) It's pistols vs frigging rifles/body armor - not an even contest. Shooters also have more ammo - can rapidly shoot through walls/doors. 2) The shooters are psychos; normal people, even well trained ones, often hesitate or shoot inaccurately.
-
3) Shooters will just prioritise teachers as first targets, and then have another gun, or plan where to start with minimal interference.
-
4) Teachers could snap too, or have their gun stolen, or have an accidental discharge. 5) Lets not forget about the possibility of someone in a chaotic situation hitting an unintended target.
-
I mean, where does it end? Teachers teaching in body armor with multiple guns in a quick access storage box? Maybe some flashbangs? Shutters and/or bars on the window? Coz school campuses are big - you'd need to make sure a single teacher could handle a prepped shooter.
-
Think about how cops respond to someone with potential heavy firepower. So teachers would also have to be SWAT, essentially... wouldn't it be easier just to pump extra money into healthcare, and license and regularly check storage, mental health, and handling?
-
I know what you may say: slippery slope, but It's not. School shootings, for reasons given, would still succeed. So, if you insist on the value of guns in school, there's only two possible next steps: equalizing/superior firepower... or just accepting occasional kid murders.

israel has heavy gun and ammo control. and she's not a teacher.
-
Who cares.. She's protecting the kids..
-
Or go like the UK and don’t have any guns anywhere...
-
Yep. And it only took ONE school shooting for us to come together as a country to take action. We never had another.

I am a teacher. I would go through any training necessary if it allows me to be the last line of defense between my students and an attacker who makes their way into my classroom. Huddling in a dark classroom hoping the police get there in time is NOT a winning strategy.

What about preventing the shooter to have a gun in the first place. School shooting only seen to be an American thing and Americans have easy access to guns. Clearly that's the problem. Australia made it difficult to own guns after a single massacre and havent had anothr since
-
Does Australia share a border with a country that is run by drug lords and smugglers that can bring in millions of guns a year? Taking guns away will not get rid of them, just like all of the other things they have made illegal in the US, they’re still hete

Do you think that means legislation is pointless? Genuine question. I think you make an interesting point, but surely if laws were in place that significantly reduced deaths that makes sense? You can't 100% stop drugs, but you have the laws - right?
-
No I don’t, I said in other tweets, enforce the laws on the books and make background checks harder. But banning anything has never worked and never will work.

Most of America didn't even vote for you. GET OUT!
-
No, but you take millions of dollars of support from the NRA, you hypocrite. Get out of the White House!
-
Shaf... I just have to block you because you can't seem to mind your own business.
-
Indeed. What's up w/ people from otger countries butting in? Meanwhile they have egregious problems at home they need to address.
