....in our Country’s history, and the poverty index is also best number EVER), leagues and teams love coming to the White House. I am a big fan of the American Team, and Women’s Soccer, but Megan should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job! We haven’t yet....

....invited Megan or the team, but I am now inviting the TEAM, win or lose. Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team. Be proud of the Flag that you wear. The USA is doing GREAT!

Megan Rapinole is an amazingly talented co-captain of the US Women’s soccer team who has every right as a patriotic American citizen to express her dissent. That includes protesting during the national anthem or saying how much she detests the President of the United States.
-
What is actually inappropriate here is the President of the United States tagging an American citizen on Twitter to target more than 61 million followers and rabid political trolls to her social media account. Getting such a huge mob to target her is dangerous, petty, and cruel.
-
I suspect many of Megan’s new trolls never even knew who she was before she was so viciously attacked by the President. Who cares if she said “not going to the F...ing White House if we win.” That’s her right to express her political opinions. The power difference here is huge.
-
Speaking of which, it’s part of the President’s job description to take criticism and jabs from the American people. We are not a dictatorship. Free speech, especially criticism of our leaders, is quintessentially American. For Trump to feel the need to “hit back” is disgraceful.
-
It stems from Trump’s deep insecurities that comes with being sent off to military reform school by his father when he was 13 for being a brat. It also comes from being the laughingstock of America for most of his adult life—seen as a clown with bankrupt casinos and weird hair.
-
This is our right as the American people. To make fun of and poke jabs at the President of the United States, who for the most part before Trump have taken these things in stride without lashing out. But Trump’s behavior is really affecting social media culture in a toxic way.
-
Trump uses his powerful platform to amplify trolls who bully others. He regularly retweets or outright thanks the most nasty people on this platform. And millions of people follow Trump’s example in using Twitter to bully others and form outrage mobs. This is disgusting violence.
-
How we handle social media is the defining characteristic of our generation, just like the radio and TV before us. Mass communication is now in the hands of the people. We must use this power responsibly and stop directing hate to people we don’t even know just to get attention.
