Don't publish their identity. Although maybe thrilling to answer folks' curiosity, such an exposure could be very dangerous for this patriot .

A self-serving response to try and justify a bad and reckless decision.

Incredibly horrid decision. You have destroyed all trust in the NYT and virtually all media for anyone considering being a whistle blower. Why couldn't you allow Congress to work through the process? This is outrageous.

Irrational exuberance? Hubris? Promotion of confiscatory advertising rates? Who let DT in the newsroom? You might as well have.

Based on your brief reply, I’m hoping u gave the WB more thought/effort than u did your readers? Did u speak with the WB or his/her lawyers? Weigh WB’s risk/danger? Research how many fit your public description of WB? What concerned u more? WB’s predicament, or beating WashPo?

I strongly disagree with publishing ANY information on the WB identity!! You protect your sources in order to get info out....protect the WB who are trying to get important info out as well. I have no respect for your paper/type of journalism if you don't respect their safety!
