Our episode of @TheWeekly about the crisis in the taxi industry is just starting on @FXNetworks. I’m watching with the cabby who we focus on in the episode — Mohammad Hossain. #TheWeeklyNYTpic.twitter.com/7suUkKdoxz

Mohammad and his wife and daughter are all getting emotional as we watch the episode. They say it's weird to see themselves on television, but they're glad that people are seeing what they've been going through. "I hope my bank is watching," Mohammad said. #TheWeeklyNYT

Mohammad is one of almost 200 taxi medallion owners who we interviewed while investigating the taxi industry. @EmmaGF, @Hillingers and I met owner-drivers from Bangladesh, Egypt, Peru, Romania, Israel, Pakistan and many other countries. #TheWeeklyNYT

On the other hand, almost all the bankers and brokers & fleet owners declined to talk with us. The people who are interviewed in the episode - Larry Fisher, Basil Messados - are not necessarily the worst in the industry. They're the ones who agreed to go on camera. #TheWeeklyNYT

Taxi driver Mohammad Hossain, watching the bankers, brokers and regulators who we interviewed in our @TheWeekly episode on the cab industry: "They all blame each other." #TheWeeklyNYT

One of the most striking parts of the episode is the footage from the television commercial that the city produced ahead of its medallion auctions (a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," the commercial said). That ad aired in 2004, and it took months to track it down. #TheWeeklyNYT

That's it for our @TheWeekly episode on the crisis in the taxi industry. We spent months on it, interviewing hundreds of people and reviewing thousands of documents. What are your questions? @EmmaGF and I are here to answer. #TheWeeklyNYT
