One could make the legal argument that this is obstruction of justice...and since Spanier's case is still pending resolution the clock for the statute of limitations hasn't started running. In the case of Tim and Gary, it won't expire until June 2023.

Tim & Gary serves their time but they certainly deserve to have their convictions overturned.
