Yikes. Sadly, exploitation more the rule than the exception. Are you familiar w/ conflict between Chris Arnade & the Bronx Documentary Center? I was working as doctor in South Bronx at time & worked closely w/ the BDC. Found Arnade’s work deeply troubling.http://www.alteredimagesbdc.org/arnade/

Yeah, his work caused quite the stir in the photojournalism world. His approach is incredibly exploitative and deeply troubling because he treated the Bronx like some kind of photo safari. Luckily he has lost pretty much all his credibility
