Well, perhaps the breach of the US embassy might just possibly have something to do with the timing.
The right’s obsession with Benghazi may have played a role. They blamed Suleimani for the embassy attack and Trump wanted to show there will be no “Benghazi” on his watch. Regardless of how deserving, killing an adversary’s military leader for a campaign theme is just wrong.
