twitter already hides a lot of replies from me.thing that i've noticed are high follower count accounts RTing with comment stupid but novel things people say. those people invariably have hardly any followers. randoms. in contrast high follower count stupidity is predictable :-)

i remember the ex-goldman sachs banker whose amusement at some of what was happening elicited a barking rebuke from the radio host on whose program he was a guest. i remember the "free market" think-tanker defending banker's bonuses as rewarding hard work AFTER the bailout.

i'm not bringing answers or making a grand claim. just foregrounding a tacit background assumption that many of us who were adults in 2008 can't shake. the democratic socialists, for example, strike me as crazily chiliastic. but i acknowledge where the crazy comes from

some people suggest that i exhibit a tendency toward political nihilism. well yeah, i do. i lived through 2008. i like to think my eyes are. were. open. we saw. what we saw cannot be unseen.

after 2008 financial crisis, i assume anyone who isn't suspicious/skeptical of self-dealing, shameless and unaccountable elites has been bought/is owned. isn't to suggest that populism of the left or the right have any answers. but there are no answers from above, just interests

this is like overpopulation. problem or not? both. the republicans have serious demographic headwinds. but democrats can't quite write their own ticket (and by democrats i believe white progressives who presumably see themselves as leadership/elite group at the head of PoC party)

i'm always confused that my liberal friends think 1) all nonwhite groups will vote at the same clip indefinitely 2) that the white republican % WON'T increase...

Democrats have been counting on Hispanic voters to save them. It’s not happening. brazil has been the country of the future for over 100 years. latinos will be democrats' demographic of future for 50 years
