Tbh I feel Hong Kong govt is quite conservative. When the same-sex marriage is legalized in Taiwan, one gay politician have talked about whether it can also be passed in Hong Kong, and then a dozen of pro-Beijing politicians say it's impossible and “Hong Kong is not Taiwan” lol.

Also Junius Ho, an, well, infamous politician had once said gay people are animals. It's just my conspiracy theory, but I feel like the Hong Kong government is using the recent movement as an excuse to ban LGBTQ+ people from expressing themselves.
