In front of China #HongKong City mall & ferry terminal, protesters sang the national anthem "Volunteers on March" & urge Mainland visitors to join them. What a patriotic bunch. 😁🇨🇳 #反送中 #HongKongProtestspic.twitter.com/3Iw7ih0Yss

Actually “March of the Volunteers” SHOULD become the anthem of those on the streets and be sung with utmost respect, because it’s all about the last howl of people who refuse to be slaves when they are under the greatest danger.

Seems like a good move to build Mainland-HK solidarity?

This song predated the establishment of the PRC. It was used to stir up Chinese nationals to rise up to fight the Japanese invaders in the 1930's. And sadly its composer was persecuted during the Cultural Revolution and died in abject disgrace.

It sounds weird. They should chant "God save the Queen" from bottom of brit heart, then the old Lady save them, shouldn't they?
