    Can’t find a single news source that is reporting this correctly: Firefox OS phones are not dead, just not distributed via carriers, anymore

        @rauschma As the market work today, isn't that very close to synonymous?

        @mpjme I don’t know. Apple seems to successfully have defied conventional wisdom here, though. Carriers = crapware.

        @rauschma What do you mean? Apple has had a strong relationship with carriers since day #1.

        @mpjme Ah, right, AT&T etc. They just dictated terms, incl. their own app store. I’m looking for precedents. Google Nexus?

        @rauschma Nexus isn't a very popular phone comp. to phones via carriers. It's essentially a reference phone: http://fortune.com/2015/09/30/google-nexus-smartphones-about-innovation-not-sales/ …

        @rauschma OnePlus is the best I can think of that sells sans-carriers. Upfront cost limits your target market a LOT.

        @rauschma in every news says that the Mozilla itself announced that it's dead... The statement from Ari Jaaksi clearly defines that.

        @imalitavakoli “we will stop offering Firefox OS smartphones through carrier channels” Not: stop offering them completely

        @rauschma I think people are making a reasonable judgement that if the phones are losing distribution then the programme is essentially dead

        @triblondon Possibly badly communicated by Mozilla.

        @rauschma @triblondon Badly communicated by media interpreting a tweet which carries no official meaning and is itself an interpretation :-/

        @DavidBruant @rauschma @triblondon It's a major policy shift announced at a Mozilla event, of course people *are* going to talk about it!

        @DavidBruant @rauschma @triblondon Mozilla's communication is terrible, why hasn't there been an official statement about this immediately?

        @codeheroics @DavidBruant @rauschma @triblondon it's because it's not a dev event like reported, it's a company work week, ...
