    Toronto funds the police to the tune of $1-billion a year but can’t fund adequate contact-tracing during a pandemic. Toronto’s covid rates remain plateaued. What are public officials doing, besides shaming outdoor gatherings unlikely to be key points of transmission? Maddening.

    all week I've been getting calls from media asking about protests this weekend. I haven't heard of any known community groups who are organizing, or seen any public flyers. why do police and media know more about a supposed upcoming protest than the public? very, very strange

    I used one of his poems as my wedding vows

    In 1968, at age 33, Henry Dumas was murdered by police in Harlem. Toni Morrison said his writing was “some of the most beautiful, moving and profound poetry and fiction that I have ever in my life read.” This is also about generations of lost potential.
