Yes, children will actively explore their environment (e.g., grabbing objects, running around) during development. The internet and YouTube extends the possible environment that children can explore, e.g., young musicians can learn sophisticated musical concepts from YouTube.
My son taught himself to solve Rubik's cubes using tutorials from the internet. I'm fascinated by his curiosity and desire to learn new things. I'm also amazed at how the internet has made it so much easier for this generation's curious children to find the knowledge they seek.

I’m with you on the first topic (kids’ curiosity), and the sentiment of the second (internet reducing friction for access to info), but my recollection of my pre-Internet youth is that books on how to solve the Rubik’s cube in particular were available at every magazine rack.
