They need the “genetic difference” thing to be true so badly - because it justifies so much for them. But even the assumption that IQ scores are a measure of some immutable trait: that itself is laughable for many reasons. One in particular: what is my score if I don’t care?

This is why white supremacist bros retreat to statistical arguments (which they are EMOTIONAL about) because the construct validity is SUPER shaky. Binet warned against exactly this approach to that kind of testing. This was never even the intention.

I suppose if it endorses their position they will be citing it favourably from now on?

Oh it doesn't in the least endorse their position. It rips it pretty hard. I'm kind of hoping to see how they adopt. Either they'll wholly dismiss it and be confronted with it constantly, or they'll find a way to adjust to it

I'm glad he did this, and thanks for posting,
@rasmansa. There are too many bad faith "arguments" and claims being made. Think of how much better things would be if everyone disagreed in good faith!Hvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte. PoništiPoništi

Ridiculous & ironic that environmental explanations for group & sex differences in cognition, behavior, personality, & preferences should be the default when all we know about biology & evolution make it *inevitable* they are like *mainly* heritable. + evidence is overwhelming.
-
*The evidence for my argument is already very multi-disciplinary, independent yet converging in implications, & overwhelming in its explanatory power, breadth, & depth.

To imply it's *only* 20 % is to err: unrecognized genetic variants explain most of the differences *within* group, & many variants undoubtedly differ between groups, besides. Bird's paper's just one of the deeply flawed ones by environmentalists. /1

To know little & be wrong in a lot, combined w/ Dunning-Kruger effect, is a bad combination. I've seen Bird's debates here w/ very smart people who know tons in genetics, biology, psychology etc, but he seems to have learned & realized nothing important from these deathblows.

i think it's unfair to disparage hereditarians on the basis of some yahoo's tweets. Kevin just published that paper. it takes some time to formulate a substantive response.
