I don't know anybody who believes that having a high IQ means you'll do something spectacular. And I agree: Too much weight is put on IQ. We need to create a society that allows all people in it to flourish if they are willing to work. At least, that is my goal.

BTW no psychologist thinks this. Also, relatively ‘low Iq’ people can be really good at things. Like I guy I know had learning difficulties associated with poor language and conceptual thinking, but he can disassemble and assemble any engine, and is an excellent pilot.

Some people with high IQs prefer to farm. Some prefer to do the Arts. Some prefer to do science. Some love the outdoors. These different things all have different pay scales.

Yes, usually having meaningful impact is all luck. Other prefer “low impact “ but meaningful work. It’s okay. The IQ crowd is annoying.

The main thing to remember is that anyone who has the will to learn more probably can, if they have no learning disability. The research shows that even nursing home patients who did art class activities had new neuronal connections & growth, previously thought impossible. 1/2
