Given that most Chinese-Americans have relatives in China I'd assume that their probability *is* higher. However we are still speaking about vanishingly small probabilities.

Having a relative in another country doesn't make you any more likely to carry an illness found in the other country. You're assuming a lot of things about this random individual to justify discrimination against them.

A little context. 1. A Chinese American has similar likelihood to have it as any other American (tiny). 2. A visitor from China may be somewhat more likely to have it. 3. Telling the difference between them is difficult (by appearance only).

"All else being equal" is doing a lot work here. Like assuming that all ethic groups have the same travel patterns and the same distribution of foreign relatives visiting them.

Is there mind reading going on with this...? I'm much more concerned about Chinese students on campus possibly having this, since they're much more likely to have been to China lately. If patient 0 was in KY or CA I'd be concerned about American students and less about them.
