.'s decision aside, whoever wrote this line from his speech deserves a raise: "We’re all footnotes at best in the annals of history. But in the most powerful nation on earth, the nation conceived in liberty and justice, that is distinction enough for any citizen."

Senator Romney reminds us that it is not impossible to do the right thing, it’s just hard. That putting country over party isn’t just a slogan, it’s our solemn obligation. That individuals who have courage and conviction can change history, and have an obligation to try.

I cannot believe there's a paper out there with Steve Majewski as a coauthor that *doesn't* use "ordinate" and "abscissa". (This is a very cool paper on binary stars with my colleague Hannah Lewis!)

Over the next ~5 years various projects, including , will take spectra of several million bright stars, and all astronomers will be able to get a ~10 years ASAS-SN light curve for every single one of them, with many thousands of epochs!

Looking up previous measurements of a 9th mag star and realizing was the first published spectrum and/or spectral results. There's so much of the sky without spectra!
