Doesn't seem outlandish to expect that a million Americans are going to have died by the time this is "over." Hard to remember now, but the prevailing feeling among decisionmakers last spring was that predictions of 60k or 100k dead were wildly outlandish

This is astonishing: Aransas and Nueces counties, where Harvey made landfall, did not receive a dime. Neither did Jefferson County, which recorded highest rain totals. Same for Houston and Harris County, even though the county suffered the most deaths/flooded homes from the storm

In May, ERCOT said it "anticipates there will be enough generation to meet the summer 2021 peak demand of 77,144 MW. Based on this forecast, the ERCOT region will have a 15.7% reserve margin..."
Today the peak demand is forecasted to be under 72k MW, yet we are facing blackouts.

In case this gets lost: The most sweeping Texas elections bill was apparently so hastily put together that in the new section about overturning elections, the authors misspelled "equal" as "egual"
