The government must seriously consider the issue of sovereignty in the conduct of a joint investigation with China. The 2016 Hague ruling expressly states that Recto Bank is part of the Philippines’ 200-nautical mile EEZ. It is ours. Are we waiving ownership of Recto Bank?

China’s “cabbage strategy” in the West Philippine Sea is working very well for the Chinese, “wrapping the islands layer by layer like a cabbage”. If we cannot see the Recto Bank incident as part of that strategy, then we deserve to be cooked like a cabbage.

DFA Sec Teddy Boy Locsin is just about the only rational soul in the cabinet having a say on the Recto Bank joint investigation issue. And for good reason. He said, "one cannot be a judge of his own case". The others, Panelo, Nograles, Piñol, I'm not sure.

A FISHERMAN’S TALE: He entitled to fish in Recto Bank. He is entitled to speak and be heard. He is entitled to financial assistance. He is entitled to a motorboat and a life jacket. He is entitled to change his story. We are entitled to believe him or not.

The president broke his silence and left us heartbroken. He forgot to explore all resources available before exercising his last option of surrender. The MDT is one yet untapped weapon. I am not suggesting WW3 but at least it can make China feel the balance of power in the WPS.

The clock is ticking on our patience. China should respect a country that has been pulling back to give a “friend” all the benefit of the doubt. If I know PRRD, he values friendship but he loves his country more. The boat ramming incident is a test of both patience and respect.
