Reactions on Q&A

looking for the silver lining in poverty isnt as easy as saying it but now that catriona has a bigger platform wherein she can promote her advocacies, we can definitely hope for great things from our queen 👑 she did things on her own before, imagine the scale now that she's won!

I appreciate the discourse and discussion on her answer. Personally I think she romanticized poverty but it doesn’t mean she’s being ignorant. Ang daming opportunities to explain to her that overcoming poverty takes more than just looking at the silver lining or being grateful.

But I guess the points are clearly laid down. Na despite the problematic view on poverty, probably romanticizing it, still, Catriona managed to give a picture of the real situation in Tondo. And that wasn't dismissed. That was acknowledged which made her deserve the crown.

Catriona did not romanticize poverty but instead, she showed that the poor can also have their silver linings. Meaning, there will always be hope for them. And that ladies and gentlemen is a sign of a queen who cares and hopes. #MissUniverse

Catriona has been one of the most passionate beauty queens to have competed in the #MissUniverse So kahit mej may romanticization of poverty sa answer niya, I'm sure she'll show the same hardwork and fervor to learn more abt the problem that has been crippling our country.

Why can’t we celebrate Catriona (and our country’s) victory without having to drag her down? First Kelsey, now her. Exactly the negativity she said we shouldn’t foster. I bet none of these self righteous haters have even done anything to alleviate poverty #CrabMentality #PeeNoise

i love Catriona so much so i swear to god she's open and willing to learn about societal issues, especially about poverty, as there is really no beauty in it. she has the platform now and her heart is in the right place.

To others, it may seem like Catriona Gray romanticized poverty, but imo, she gave an answer of hope in which she considered Miss Universe as an avenue to open the eyes of people who (until now) remains apathetic when it comes to poverty.
