twitter DSP nerd communal bugfix help time: in dreams I have a rare, content-specific bug where a biquad filter in an EQ explodes. I'm enforcing my coeffs are nicely stable, eg see https://dsp.stackexchange.com/questions/24293/ensure-stability-against-coefficient-quantization … - but still it explodes. its bandaid time! should I:

(its entirely possible the filter is having its Fc/Q/gain being swept, which I implement as linear interpolation of biquad parameters - but I enforce that the post-interpolation coeffs stay inside the stability triangle in the z plane)

Consider a state variable representation rather than a traditional canonical biquad form. It's more stable and also faster on modern hardware.

thanks! yeah I've been teetering on the brink of moving so SVF, but haven't been able to do the derivation for the various shelf/etc shapes I wanted, because I suck at filter maths :) will revisit

See https://github.com/google/music-synthesizer-for-android/tree/master/lab … for my work on this a few years ago. Enjoy!
