Thanks for the reference, it's interesting. What I'm doing here is in many ways simpler - each control point is being interpolated completely independently. But something like this might be useful to make the UX more intuitive.

Are you able to provide a diagram showing the path traced by the points in gaussian interpolation vs linear? Also are both i and n using the same basis function?

I think tracing the path would be useful - PR gladly accepted! And yes, same basis function for both. There's no extra trickery, it's just interpolating the masters it has been given.
