Even though im trying to like Winit the 'windowing lib' for Rust it just has too many random bugs and quirks to be actually useful. Now i get a CursorLeft without a CursorEntered. Its also buggy as for mouse focus, at this rate im going to really have to replace it.

It also seems to have the wrong eventloop model for MTKView. Sure its cute that my code compiles randomly elsewhere but the attention to detail is severely lacking for it to be useful as a real application layer.

I can't have 2 out of 10 of my app startups for it to just have broken mousedowns. Or that i can't rely on mouseout, or that it seems to think that sending only mouse deltas when the mouse is not over the window is a fine way to do things. Its not.

And i know its opensource and i could go in and fix it, but its just the beginning of the problem. What about mac menus, what about other mac oddities, what about iOS, what about win32 features, its just not an abstractable thing this way.

We've been struggling with winit issues in both druid (https://github.com/xi-editor/druid/issues/16 …) and rust-vst, so you're not alone here. It would be nice to have common infrastructure for what winit does, but it's also not productive to force a bad fit.

yeah i have my own layer anyway for webGL, and yea. Its just not useful anymore. Halfway to having my own cocoa window thing.

yeah, I remember playing with xi-win UI, before druid, I've added button hovers and on click events, and yes, there were a ton of inconsistencies, but I thought it was me doing something silly, didn't get to the root of the issue.

Actually I recalled, xi-win was using win32 api directly at that time, and direct2d. There was no winit.
