It’s a known thing that travel planning can be more exciting than the actual visit itself. I wonder if folks from the pre-internet era have the same sentiment in their travels before the 90s.

I’ve definitely experienced this in the last few trips where I tried to plan out “the best” places to hit. By the time I get to them I’m not totally surprised. Meanwhile the places that I stumble on have left the most powerful impacts.
