If it’s fiction, naturally you don’t take it literally. However, if it’s your god’s holy book and supposedly a guide to living your life, how else are you going to take it? If not literally, who decides what it’s telling you?

That’s true. American women are not on equal footing. Our rights are being contested. Our advances in society are being undermined by the resurgence in religion in the patriotic reflux after 911. We are still trying to lobby and fight for a hold in our own Interests though

What does it matter what God said? God appointed prophets and spokespeople on his behalf, did he not? If these people weren’t inspired by god, why would you trust anything in the Bible? Especially if 2 Timothy 3:16 tells you all scripture is “God-breathed.”

No, I don't follow your commands -- you're a sexist bigot who obviously has a misogynistic vendetta against women. Your attitude needs to change because it's not making life better for people. (By the way, I am "outside of European and American culture" because I'm Canadian.)

Don't tell me, a Canadian, what it means to be a Canadian. Our culture has changed tremendously since those early days, and it continues to change (because we are actually free in this country). Those other regions are systemically sexist. What's your excuse for being bigoted?

How do you determine whether this Bible verse is good or bad? And what is your "good/bad" judgment of it? "That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman." -- 2 Chronicles 15:13, the Holy Bible (KJV)

Being born with a painful, incurable, and terminal illness that severely shortens one's lifespan is an example of "imperfection" that comes to mind. Since you credit your male deity for that, then it's reasonable and logical to conclude he's cruel.
