This slick ad for Akash Byju's glorifies exactly that which is most reprehensible about the coaching system. Dazed students being whiplashed by militaristic teachers to make them 'win'. And that is sadly why this ad will probably work. Learning be damned.

Slick or not, made me feel sick - seeing these drill-sergeant-like teachers out to make their students succeed at any cost. How is Byju’s different from those coaching centres in Kota which make no bones about this approach!

This is additional evidence to the fact that we need to demystify how traits like discipline actually work before certain players shape the narrative to their advantage

Looking at everything with a war-like frenzy has become a sign of our times. Look at visuals used by channels to promote even cricket. Any wonder that this has seeped into our politics and cultural assertions as well. Or is it vice versa? Sad!

you're an idealist. Have you seen moms in your apartment with nursery going kids? 'winning' is everything. No one is asking 'winning at what'? Our society is so far down the rabbit hole, can't see no light at the end. Bhai, 'we are like this only'.

My wife and I are the TG. I have a daughter who dropped out of a similar program after paying a ton of fees. And she's very bright. I shudder to think of the kids who will not 'win' this race.
