A lot of us are saying things that the church (even white progressives ones) doesn’t want to reckon with. The thing is, if we don’t speak, we lose ourselves to systems that didnt want our full existence anyway. We speak up to survive. We speak up to make us all more whole.

Since people are super worried about whether white Americans are even allowed to write about Mexico, here is a thread about white Americans and Brits who wrote amazing books about Mexico admired by Mexicans. So if you want to begin with white writers to learn about Mexico, read:

Y’all the fake caring about Black people and injustice ads aren’t for us. It’s for white people, to make them not feel bad about supporting racist politicians & policies. Why would you think they care about us when they continue to kill us?

As a Black woman who studies history, I want to know when this country has ever been "united"? Statements like this are why I can't trust white women half has far as I can throw them.

Please don’t forget Trump doesn’t give a damn about Black people. Using Black people in an ad doesn’t mean anything. Black people have ALWAYS been used by White people for a White agenda.

Thank God for the scholars and journalists who reveal the history that shapes our current circumstances. and its descendants should also be hashtagged . We all have to unlearn the lies that sustained this history if America is to be free.

The NHL has two different commercials for Black History Month. Three players in each commercial wishing fans a Happy Black History Month. Zero black players featured. Good times.

Just when wypipo are super tired of us, bam💥, Black History Month rolls around...to compliment White History Year. And it’s a leap yr, so we get an extra day to gloat abt our achievements. And just to be clear, some of my closest friends are white. And they’re tired of me. 🤷🏾‍♂️

My angst with in schools is not the month itself. It’s white people’s penchant for taking anything good and sullying it. 😣😞 🗣 Let it be known that Black history in America is not limited to Martin Luther King, Jr., George Washington Carver and Rosa Parks.🙄

Black History tidbit for folks who study theology. Dietrich Bonhoeffer got his language about "cheap grace" from his time in Harlem, a term passed down from Rev. Adam Clayton Powell Sr.

For the past few months, I've been following Every day they have put out a tweet remembering those who were killed during the Holocaust. The 11+ million who were murdered, and those they can find record of, are named. There is power in that.
